Also here, some vids of Akira's story modes for anyone curious:
Rival Schools
Project Justice
(EDIT: Also to clarify, due to the splitting routes of Project Justice, Akira is coming from the route where she saved Daigo but ultimately didn't unlock her powered alternate mode.)
Personality:
Akira is a soft spoken, rather meek sort of girl who is astonishingly capable at breaking people’s faces. And while Akira has her own code of honor, (don’t pick needless fights, show mercy where you can, etc) her morals don’t always neatly align with society’s. Akira’s older brother and only family member, Daigo, has had a notable impact on her life in that respect; his own principles of honor and a certain disdain for authority have rubbed off on her. In fact his kidnapping was the catalyst for Akira stepping out of her comfort zone and into conflict.
Her gentle demeanor means she’ll go along with a lot, and her shy side makes it hard to always speak up for herself or take initiative. (She is an interesting contradiction where she LIKES people, but not so much talking to them if it doesn’t involve motorcycles or the like.) Akira is very much the reed in the wind. She’ll bend to most anything, but it’s a task to completely break her.
…Not to say she doesn’t have her own share of problems. The fact of the matter is that Akira isn’t the best at asserting herself unless she’s been pushed extremely far. (Read, a life or death situation.) On several occasions in Project Justice she gets dragged into fights or conflict when a more assertive teammate decided it was time for a throw down, and Akira wasn’t capable of saying “no.”
But once she’s settled on something, she’ll see it through. And when that push finally DOES come to shove, Akira shoves back hard. And punches. And kicks. And blasts out chi. The things she fights for are her friends, her beliefs, and herself, in that order.
Still, all of those combat skills and the fact she’s so quiet needs an outlet… and Akira has given herself one, in the form of an alternate persona. When she wears her motorcycle helmet and full riding leathers, she becomes much more assertive and confident. Even her approach to problems changes, along with her fighting style; while Akira in her normal guise would sooner circumvent problems using a flowing mindset, her masked self smashes into them head-on with a forceful style. (There’s also the fact that she takes on a male guise, and that “Akira” works as a gender neutral name too.)
But through it all, Akira is ultimately the same girl on the inside, and ultimately the gentle side of her tends to break through.
Anything else: Akira is a skilled martial artist, though her burning vigor attacks will likely end up becoming limit breaks. Also she’s a budding mechanic who loves motorcycles and can likely expand that passion to other motor engines. Finally, she can mask her gender to a degree, with some careful wardrobe work.
